Lake Tanganyika caters for the water needs of more than 50 million people in four countries including Tanzania, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. However, recent data shows that the depth of this Lake – which is located west of Tanzania, north of Zambia and east of both the DR Congo and Burundi – has decreased by 1.5 cubic meters, something which is causing major concerns.

Prosper Kwigize a radio journalist with Mpanda Radio went to find out the reasons behind the diminishing water levels in the lake. He highlights the issue in his radio magazine programme Man and Environment.

This podcast by Proper Kwigize was supported by InfoNile and Code for Africa and was first aired on Mpanda Radio in Tanzania and DW Bonn, in Germany.
